Guide: Use Whiteboard in Microsoft Teams: Guide
Microsoft Teams is a software giant’s answer to Slack. It’s available as a free download for organizations of all sizes. Microsoft also offers paid plans that offer more features and tools. While it competes closely with Slack, Zoom, and others, Microsoft emphasizes collaboration as a specific part of the Teams app. When it comes to collaboration, the teams allow users to create, share and chat with a whiteboard while collaborating.
Microsoft has added background blur for video calls, pop-upup chats and meeting windows, Outlook plugin and more in Teams. Whiteboard is one of the best features to work efficiently with team members. ..
Microsoft Teams already allows team members to share the screen. But if you want to brainstorm ideas with attendees, you can choose the whiteboard function during videos. ..

Whiteboard drawing Features
Microsoft offers a variety of drawing tools while using the whiteboard. You can use the standard Pen tool in different colors to demonstrate your strategy.
You can use the eraser tool to remove the irrelevant part of the whiteboard. The move tool is my favorite. You can use it to move the whiteboard or keep it on a fixed section.
To use the Pen tool effectively on a Windows laptop, you should use a mouse.
After you are done brainstorming, you may want to save the raw image and ideas as an SVG file on your computer. To do that, tap the Settings icon in the top right corner and select Export SVG.
Share Whiteboard and chat
To join a screen sharing session, tap on the Share button on the top left of the screen.
You can use the chat, mute, and invite other group members to the whiteboard in Microsoft Teams. The admin doesn’t have to leave the stream to activate it. ..
Mute allows you to mute the audio from your end. The chat function is my favorite. It opens the side panel in the whiteboard and lets you chat with team members. That’s a better way to communicate live with team members and they can talk to each other while sharing whiteboard screens. After the conversation ends, you can see the entire chat history with the name of the meeting in the channel.
In the member’s tab, you can see the current users in the meeting and suggested users, and you can even invite members from the other channels.
Shortcomings
Microsoft Whiteboard is a great tool for brainstorming and sharing ideas, but it can be difficult to add text and predefined shapes. Image insertion support is also missing. I hope future updates provide those options.
Use Microsoft Teams like a pro
Microsoft Teams is a great tool for brainstorming ideas with team members. You can use it to discuss ideas, share insights with visitors, and export it as an image for future reference.
Microsoft Teams is a great way to collaborate and communicate with colleagues. However, there are some tips and tricks you can use to make it even more effective. Here are five tips to get started:
- Set up a meeting time for everyone in your team. This will help avoid overlap in communication and make sure everyone has the same opportunity to speak.
- Use the right tools for the job. If you have a chat app like Slack or Zoom, use them to keep track of what’s going on in your team. If you’re using a phone app, try out OneDrive or Office 365’s built-in messaging features for added convenience.
- Use group chat instead of individual chat if possible. Group chats are more efficient because they can include multiple people at the same time and can be used for larger tasks such as discussing ideas or planning meetings.
- Use emoji if needed and be aware of how they’re interpreted by other people in your team (for example, when sending an emoji that means “I’m sorry,” don’t send an emoji that says “I love you”). 5. Be prepared for potential disruptions during meetings by having a plan in place for when someone needs to leave early or take a break (for example, using an app like Slack’s Attendee App).
