I am using Microsoft 365 (desktop) on a 64bit Windows 10 system. The built-in filter feature is only available in tape versions. FILTER() is available for Microsoft 365, Excel 2021, Excel for web, Excel for iPad and iPhone, Excel for Android tablets and phones. For your convenience, you can download the .xlsx demo file. How to use the filter feature in Microsoft Excel
To apply filters, click the Data tab and then click Filter in the Sort and Filter group.
To use filters, simply click on the appropriate drop-down arrow in the header cell. Try it now by clicking on the Region drop-down menu. The resulting panel allows you to filter in many different ways. When no filter is defined, all values are checked. To sort by one or more values, but not all values, deselect the item (Select All). Then check the items you want to see. Figure B shows the selected northwest and southwest. Subsequently, the filtered set shown in Figure C displays only the records for these two values; there are no records for the displayed Center.
This feature is flexible enough for most situations, but it has one limitation: you can’t view the filtered set elsewhere. This feature filters only records in place. Thanks to the new FILTER() function, doing this is almost as easy as using the filter.
