Download Google Maps for offline use

To download a map for offline use, go to the Google Maps app on your phone. Now tap the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner of the screen and tap “Offline Maps”. In the updated versions of Android, this menu has been moved to the user’s profile picture in the upper-right corner near the search bar. ..

HOW TO DOWNLOAD GOOGLE MAPS OFFLINE ON ANDROID AND IOS

  1. Open the Android app and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the main screen and select “Maps.”
  3. On the left, you’ll see a list of devices that have Maps installed. Choose your phone from that list and press “Create Map.”
  4. The map will be created in a new window and you’ll be able to explore it using the same tools you use to view maps on your computer or mobile device.

Open Google Maps on your smartphone and search for the city or area where you want to save the offline map. Make sure GPS and Internet connection are enabled. Once you find the location, tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the map. On the pop-up menu that appears, select “Save map as…” Tap on “Download map as…” Enter a name for your map (e.g., “Boston Offline Map”) and tap on “Save.” ..

The location address, along with some options, would appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap the address to reveal more options.

Select the Download offline map option to download a map of the area.

Google Maps will prompt you to choose the area using an interactive rectangular UI element. Scroll and zoom until you have the desired area you want to download within your limits. It will also notify you of the storage space Maps will consume at the bottom. Click Download when you’re done.

You can download a map of an entire city instead of a specific location or area. In this case, the steps will vary slightly. Search for the city and tap the location card at the bottom, and you will find Download button directly.

Google Maps will ask you to select the map area manually by zooming in and rotating. Tap the download button when you are satisfied with the result.

Open Google Maps, tap the profile photo and select Offline Directions.

Search for the place or city using the search bar and tap the location information card at the bottom of the screen. Tap the three-dot menu icon to select Download offline map.

You will need to adjust the location area inside the box before downloading the map to your device’s internal memory.
