How to transfer your data to a new Android phone or iPhone – Guide
When switching from an Android phone for iPhone, moving your photos, contacts, calendars and accounts is easier than ever with Apple’s Move to iOS app. Although the Move to iOS app transfers a lot of your data, it’s not useful for transferring your apps (as they’re not supported), music, or any of your passwords. Also, you can only move your data from an Android phone or tablet to an iPhone or iPad with iOS 9 or higher.
How to move your data from an android phone for an iPhone
If you are going to switch from an Android phone for an iPhone, there is a serious wrinkle. Apple’s Android migration tool, Move to iOS, doesn’t seem to work with phones running Android 9 Pie (the latest version of Android). Could not get it to connect to iOS phones in our tests, and our experience seems to echo in online support forums. Previous versions – Android Oreo (8.x) – work.
If you have an Android phone that is still running Android 7.0 Nougat, you can move your data to the new iPhone as follows:
- Open the Settings app and select General > Reset > Reset everything.
- Scroll down and select Storage > Move items to new device.
- Tap on the OK button to confirm your move.
