To transfer files between a Mac and Windows, you will need to first create a new account on either platform and then use the File Transfer Wizard to transfer files. The File Transfer Wizard is available on both platforms. After you have completed the File Transfer Wizard, you will need to make some settings in order to transfer files between your Mac and Windows. In order to transfer files between a Mac and Windows, you will need to make some settings in order to ensure that the file sharing is working properly. In addition, you will also need to make sure that your computer is connected to the internet and that your Mac is connected to the same network as your PC. If you are transferring files using a USB drive, be sure that it is formatted as FAT32 or FAT64. If it isn’t formatted correctly, theTransferWizard may not be able to detect or transfer the files correctly. When transferring files between a Mac and Windows, be sure that you are using an appropriate file format for both platforms. For example, if you are transferring photos from a Mac into an album on Windows, use JPEG or PNG instead of GIF or PNG because these formats are more common on Windows than they are on Macs.

Per up sharing local folder between Mac and Windows, follow these steps

Create a new share-only user account

Select the “Users” tab and click on the “Add User” button. Enter your name and password in the appropriate fields and click on the “Add” button. Select the “Groups” tab and click on the “Add Group” button. Enter your name and password in the appropriate fields and click on the “Add” button. ..

To create a new share-only user, click on the + sign located just below the Login Options button. ..

The pop-up window asks you to choose whether to share your account with just a few people or all of your friends. If you choose the drop-down menu, you can select whether to share your account with just a few people or all of your friends.

To create a new Mac account:

  1. Log in to your computer as the Windows user.
  2. Open the Accounts dialog box (located in the Control Panel).
  3. In the Accounts dialog box, click on the New Account button.
  4. In the New Account dialog box, enter a name for your new Mac account and select a password for your new account.
  5. Click on OK to create your new Mac account and close the Accounts dialog box.

After entering the relevant details, the new share-only account will become active and will appear in the Other Users section under Users & Groups as below. In this case, my share-only account for the PC is just called Roland.

Configure sharing preferences

The next step is to enable and configure sharing on the Mac. Open System Preferences and then the Sharing icon from the Internet and Wireless section.

In the right pane, you will see a list of shares that have been created. Select the share you want to share.

If you’re using Windows, you can share files and folders using the SMB protocol. To do this, make sure the item Share files and folders using SMB (Windows) is checked.

When you add a folder to the sharing window, it will appear in the list on the left. You can then select which users or groups have access to share this folder. By default, everyone has read-only access to shared folders. To give someone full access to a shared folder, you would click the Share button and then select the permissions you want them to have. ..

The sharing window should look like the one shown below. File sharing will be enabled, shared folders will be displayed as a list, and a small green status icon indicates whether activation was successful.

You need to assign the new share-only user the appropriate file permissions in order to read and write to the shared folder. Click on the + button in the lower right corner of the share window to bring up the list of users and groups. Find the new share-only user, highlight it, and click Select. ..

To assign the correct file permissions for the shared folder, click the drop-down permissions icon and change the default value to “Read & Write.” ..

In Finder, you can verify that the shared folder is set up correctly by opening the location of the directory you just added. If it’s working, a dark gray strip at the top will show the Shared Folder just below the view icons.

The last thing to do is select Get Info (CMD + I) on the shared folder and check its properties. It should be clearly shown as shared and the permissions at the bottom should indicate which users have access to it.

Access your Mac shared folder on PC

Type “cmd” and press Enter. At the command prompt, type “ipconfig /all” and press Enter. ..

A dialog opens where you need to enter the IP address (the network address) of your Mac. The format should be ipaddress. After that, just click OK to continue and open your Mac’s shared folder.

If you don’t know your Mac’s IP address, you can use Network Utility to find out (just enter the network utility in Spotlight) and also in the Network item in System Preferences.

After successfully connecting to the Mac, you will be able to see the folders you shared.
