If you don’t have a Professional or Enterprise edition of Windows 10, you can still access Group Policy Editor by using the Local Group Policy Editor tool. To use the Local Group Policy Editor tool, you need to be logged in as an administrator on your computer. If you’re not logged in as an administrator, you can log in as an administrator by clicking Start, typing Administrator into the search box, and pressing Enter. Once you’re logged in as an administrator, click Start, type gpedit.msc into the search box, and press Enter. The Local Group Policy Editor window will open. In the Local Group Policy Editor window, under Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Configure Automatic Updates , double-click EnableGroupPolicyEditor . The EnableGroupPolicyEditor dialog box will open. In the EnableGroupPolicyEditor dialog box, under Allow local users to manage updates , select Enabled . Under Allow local users to manage settings , select Enabled . Under Require administrative authentication to manage updates , select Not required . Click OK . The policy can be found in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate folder.
